ACWORTH, Ga. -- Mary Tankersley, an 11-year-old Acworth girl, recently underwent a very rare surgery for osteosarcoma.
The surgery, called a rotationplasty, involved the middle part of Mary's right leg being removed. Her lower leg, ankle and foot were then rotated and attached to her upper leg.
With therapy, a prosthetic lower leg, and lots of prayers and support, Mary will hopefully soon be as active as she was before being diagnosed with cancer.
Ted Hall featured a story about Mary and a fundraiser for her family during the 6 a.m. news on Thursday, Mar. 14.
