SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Twenty Southeast schools will compete later this month for a chance to attend the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science's National Science Bowl.

The regional bowl will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah.

Eighteen schools from Georgia and two from Florida will battle for a paid trip to Washington, D.C., for the national bowl in late April.

Teams from Maclay High School in Tallahassee, Fla., Eastside High School in Gainesville, Fla., and these Georgia schools, many of which are in metro Atlanta, will compete in the regional event:

* Camden County HS, Kingsland
* Campbell HS, Smyrna
* Dooly County HS, Vienna
* Frederica Academy, St. Simons Island
* George Walton Academy, Monroe
* Kennesaw Mountain HS, Kennesaw
* Mountain View HS, Lawrenceville
* Newnan HS
* North Springs Charter HS, Sandy Springs
* Northview HS, Johns Creek
* Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, Conyers
* South Forsyth HS, Cumming
* Statesboro HS
* The Westminster School, Atlanta
* Walton HS, Marietta
* Wheeler HS, Marietta
* Woodstock HS
