O'Charley's offering free pie for Mother's Day

(WXIA) -- In honor of Mother's Day, all O'Charley's locations will offer free slices of pie to mothers who eat at the restaurants on Sunday, May 12.

Mothers can choose from among Ooey-Gooey Caramel Pie, Country Apple Pie, Double-Crust Peach Pie, French Silk Pie and Southern Pecan Pie.

"All of us at O'Charley's are thrilled to offer these exclusive pies to hardworking moms across the country," O'Charley's president Mickey Mills said in a statement. "We look at this as an opportunity to welcome moms to take the day off and enjoy a fresh piece of pie and a sincere 'thank you' from us."

Chipotle offers BOGO special for teachers

ATLANTA -- Chipotle Mexican Grill is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day by offering buy-one-get-one menu items for educators.

On Tuesday, May 7, a teacher who shows a valid school ID at any U.S. Chipotle restaurant will receive a free burrito, burrito bowl, salad or order of tacos when they buy another menu item.

The promotion is available from 4 p.m. to close.

"We are changing the way people think about and eat fast food. This means going beyond our commitment to better food from more sustainable ingredients and working hard to engrain our restaurants in the communities that they serve," Chipotle communications director Chris Arnold said in a statement. "Connecting with educators and other key community groups is part of who we are, and we're always happy when our work makes an impact upon the communities where we operate."

KSU student wins S. Truett Cathy Scholar Award

ACWORTH, Ga. -- A Cobb County Chick-fil-A team member is one of only 25 people nationwide to win the 2013 S. Truett Cathy Scholar Award.

Kimberly Westwood received her prize Monday at the Acworth Chick-fil-A where she works. The $1,000 scholarship is given annually to a handful of the 1,600 Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship winners.

Westwood is one of four Georgians to earn the award this year.

"Kimberly personifies the qualities the S. Truett Cathy Scholar Award was created to recognize. WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- After approximately 7 years in Woodstock, Caribou Coffee will be closing the Highway 92 location as of Wednesday, March 27th at 10pm.  Caribou Coffee, the second largest coffee chain, is located near the Target and Steak and Shake on Highway 92 near Interstate 575.

ATLANTA -- Coca-Cola and Firehouse Subs are partnering for a national sweepstakes centered on stock car racing.

Coca-Cola is sponsoring the Coca-Cola Photo Finish sweepstakes at Firehouse Subs locations through Apr. 21.

During the contest, life-size cutouts of participating Coca-Cola Racing Family members will be placed in FIrehouse Subs locations. Firehouse Subs guests can snap a photo with the cutout and submit it to win. Guests can submit photos via text to cocacolaphotofinish.com, or entries can be mailed.

Participating drivers include Joey Logano, representing the Georgia and Gulf region; Greg Biffle, representing the West and Central region; Danica Patrick, representing the Florida region; Denny Hamlin, representing the South region; and Tony Stewart, representing the Mid-Atlantic region.

ATLANTA – Atlanta’s favorite neighborhood restaurant, Marlow’s Tavern, is bringing NOLA to ATL with its annual “Bayou ‘n Bourbon” menu full of cuisine from the Deep South. Starting on Tuesday, February 12 through Monday, March 25, all Atlanta-area tavern locations are featuring the menu full of jazzed up dishes and classic cocktails that will take diners taste buds on a trip to the Big Easy.

“The flavors of New Orleans are distinct and irresistible, much like the chef-driven food and hand-crafted cocktails found on our everyday menu,” says John C. Metz, executive chef and co-founder of Marlow’s Tavern. “We want our guests to experience Louisiana cooking with a Marlow’s twist,” he adds.
