KENNESAW, Ga. -- The Golden Soldiers recently named Kennesaw State University athletic director Vaughn Williams to its board of directors.

The Golden Soldiers is a faith-based non-profit that hosts events, activities and service opportunities for families and individuals living with developmental disabilities, all while promoting the Golden Rule.

"Having a person of the caliber and with the talent and expertise of Vaughn Williams to join our board is a testament to the direction the Golden Soldiers organization is headed," Golden Soldiers founder and president Lindsey Turner said in a statement. "Vaughn has an amazing passion for giving back and serving others. I am overjoyed with the opportunity to work with him to advance the Golden Soldiers' mission and build a facility to include an array of athletic programs for individuals with developmental disabilities."

Williams, who previously served as athletic director at the University of Connecticut, began his position at KSU in May 2011. He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, Minority Opportunities Athletic Association and Black Coaches & Administrators.
