COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- The police headquarters in Cobb County has officially been renamed in honor of Robert E. Hightower.
Hightower, a retired Cobb Police chief, served the county for 26 years. He was the first-ever Cobb director of public safety and is the founder of the Department of Public Safety Training Academy, which offers initial and advanced training to emergency personnel.
After retiring from Cobb County, Hightower served as director of the Georgia State Patrol and as the state's first director of homeland security. He has also been a captain with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Hightower began his long and illustrious career as a Navy Seal.
Cobb County Police Headquarters is located at 140 North Marietta Parkway.
