Atlanta Beat Player Ready For World Cup Action

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Carli Loyd of the Atlanta Beat would love to duplicate her 2008 golden Olympic moment at the upcoming World Cup competition in Germany.

Loyd scored the game winner against Brazil in team USA's 1-0 win.  She leaves June 14th for Germany where the American women begin group play against North Korea, Columbia, and Sweden.  The event that put American women's soccer on the World Cup map was the 1999 championship.

She visited with Randy Waters in 11 Alive's studio at 6 PM Wednesday evening where she said America will be one of the co-favorites along with 2 time defending champion Germany.

The Atlanta Beat will be back in action at home this Saturday, June 11th at 7pm.
