Visitation services held for Marine Lance Cpl. Skip Wells

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Friends and family are continuing the painful process of saying goodbye to a Cobb County Marine who lost his life in a deadly Chattanooga shooting.

Marine Lance Corporal Squire "Skip" Wells died after a gunman opened fire at two military recruiting centers last week. Four other service members were also killed.

Hundreds lined the streets to honor Wells as his body was transported from the airport to Cobb County on Thursday.

On Friday, the first day of visitation was held at Winkenhofer Funeral Home in Kennesaw.

The funeral home entrance was lined with flags for the two visitation sessions. Members of the Patriot Guard Riders motorcycle group stood in what they call a "silent flag line" at the entrance as visitors walked in.

Two more visitation sessions are planned on Saturday. One from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and another from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 26, First Baptist Church of Woodstock, located at 11905 Highway 92 at 2 p.m.

Wells will be interred with military honors at Georgia National Cemetery at 1080 Scott Hudgins Drive in Canton.
