KENNESAW, Ga. -- A young woman is dead after an accident between an SUV and a pedestrian in Kennesaw early Sunday morning.

According to the Cobb County Department of Public Safety, officers responded to Busbee Parkway south of Chastain Road shortly after midnight.

According to investigators, the driver of a gray 2002 Toyota 4Runner was heading south on Busbee Parkway at the same time a group of four pedestrians was attempting to cross the road.

Police said that, for unknown reasons, one of the four, later identified as Chelsea A. Tucker, 25, of Lizella, Ga., stepped into the road and was hit.

Tucker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle did not sustain injuries.

The initial investigation reveals that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in Tucker's death.

Police don't expect to file charges against the driver.
