Members of the Harrison High School Marching Band learned the good news Friday morning. It is the second time the band has been invited to perform in the iconic parade.

"Our students have worked incredibly hard for this opportunity. This is an outstanding reward for their dedication to our program and their pursuit of excellence in all that they do," Harrison High director of bands Joshua Ray said.

Ray added his students are excited to represent Harrison High, the city of Kennesaw and the state of Georgia.

Every year, the Macy's Parade Band Committee scours the country for bands that exhibit stage presence, and musical and marching abilities. Harrison High was chosen from among 175 applicants.

"The Harrison High School Marching Band approaches each performance with artistry, a full symphonic sound, and gorgeous storytelling," said Wesley Whatley, the parade's creative director.

Harrison High School Marching Band members will spend the next 18 months rehearsing and raising money for their trip to New York City.
