Gas war has prices stuck at January lows
News

KENNESAW, Ga (WXIA) -- A competitive battle between three gas stations has been nothing but a win for consumers who are paying gas prices we saw six weeks ago.

ID=25065243

The gas stations are on Bells Ferry Road just off the I-575 exit. A RaceTrac, QT and Shell station were all selling regular unleaded gas for $1.93 a gallon. They have been selling at that price since all three reached that low in January.

While other nearby gas stations have raised prices over the past several weeks, the three on Bells Ferry Road have stagnated at $1.93. Their losses from per gallon profits, are apparently being swallowed up by a growing volume of customers seeking a bargain.

RaceTrac customer Ben Christopher said he paid five dollars to put gas in his car in the city so he could get to Kennesaw to fill up. When asked how long he hopes the competition will continue he answered
"
Forever.
"

"
It takes 26 gallons to fill (my car),
"
said Jeff Ianitello.
"
You know, 30-40 cents a gallon, you know work the math out on that. That's a lot of money.
"

Not everyone is happy according to Crystal Gabrielsen, who works at the Shell station.
"
There is a lot of smiling, but a lot of angry,
"
she said.
"
Because it
'
s so busy we have lines to the rest rooms.
"

I think it
'
s great for the ones that know about it,
"
Kandice Busha said.
"
But I don't want everybody to find out about my little secret.
"

A spokesperson for Racetrac told 11 Alive News that each of their gas stations tries to have the most competitive price in the immediate area. If that is the philosophy of QT and Shell then who knows how long the January price will last.
