KENNESAW, Ga. -- Kennesaw Police have cited a 29-year-old man for illegally shooting and killing a deer on private property.

Officers received a call about possible animal parts found in a backyard on Cranbrook Walk on Friday. When they arrived, they discovered deer hair and entrails on the property, as well as drag marks that wound through the woods.

The marks ended at a house on Forest Grove Pass in the New McEver Woods subdivision. A woman who answered the door at the house admitted that her brother, Alton Cain, had killed a deer and taken it to a taxidermist.

Cain admitted to shooting the deer on land belonging to Legacy Park. He was charged with hunting on private property without permission, illegally taking wildlife and hunting without a license.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources took possession of the deer.
