LOCAL PROFILE: Steve Stoute, founder of Transition

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Recently, Steve Stoute stopped by Spelman College to chat about his revolutionary take on the marketing world and a concept he calls “tanning”. Stoute started off as a road manager for hip-hop group Kid 'n Play and has since founded his own marketing firm, helped coin the McDonald's theme song and created his own firm, Translation LLC.

He has consulted for many of the top names in the music business and, a number of Fortune 500 companies, and he stopped by Spelman College to spread the word about his new book, “The Tanning of America”, which explains his theory on the redefinition of marketing.

Inaugural ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ Vocal Competition Benefits Charity, Brings Teens Together

Do you know a Star of Tomorrow? Variety of Georgia is looking for bright teenagers who fit the bill!  The Stars of Tomorrow competition launched on October 25, and Variety of Georgia now searches for talented teens. This fall, the non-profit organization lights up its latest initiative with the inaugural talent competition. Brilliant hopefuls 13-19 years old can get in on the vocal action to gain experience, exposure and the opportunity to pursue their dreams as the next Star of Tomorrow.

ASO to honor Metro Atlanta music teachers

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will hold an appreciation ceremony for more than 180 Atlanta-area music teachers Friday evening.

The teachers will be recognized at 7 p.m. by ASO president Stanley Romanstein. Afterward, the instructors will attend the evening's concert featuring the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov and Mussorgsky.

ASO cellist Joel Dallow will also receive a special award from Romanstein for his arts education advocacy work throughout Georgia.

Both the 8 p.m. concert and the preceding reception will take place at the Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree Street NE, Midtown.

Atlanta Gets Grinched: The Grinch Set to Make Community Appearances October 22-23

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch … The holiday-loathing star of “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical” is set to make his mark on the city as he prepares for the Atlanta debut of his touring Broadway musical, playing at the Fox Theatre from November 29-December 4. Families will have the chance to get up-close-and-personal with the misunderstood green villain himself during this special visit to Atlanta.

The appearance schedule for The Grinch is as follows.  Unless otherwise noted, The Grinch will be available for autographs, photos and more!

  • Barnes & Noble: Book Reading and Press Conference (11 a.m.-12 p.m.)

The Grinch will entertain little ones with a reading of his story, and he’ll be available for photos after the book reading.

During the luncheon, the university's College of the Arts will present this year's Flourish Awards. Launched in 2005, the awards are presented in four categories.

There are a number of things for families to do, this weekend, around Atlanta. At the Chastain Park Amphitheatre HLM Worldwide and Soul Headphones by Ludacris will host a concert called “The Reunion” with The Isley Brothers, El Debarge and Carl Thomas. The concert will be hosted by Idris Elba on Saturday afternoon.

Take your family to see one of the greatest spectacles, presented by the Cirque de Soleil Company. Dralion infuses the “ancient Chinese circus tradition and the avant-garde approach of Cirque du Soleil production”.
