Plane Lands Safely On Bent Water Golf Course
News

Acworth, GA -- It was a scary afternoon for a student pilot and his instructor as their Cirrus Sr22 single engine plane lost power over Paulding County.   The pair managed to land the plane safely on the Bent Water Country Club golf course.

"It came down on the 13th hole fairway and landed with no injuries to golfers on the ground or the two people in the plane,"  said Mary Ann Phipps, Public information officer for the Paulding County Fire and EMS Services.

Witnesses say there were two golfers on the green when the plane came in almost silently because its engine was out. The golfers got out of the way just in time.

The plane ended up against trees that bordered the fairway. There was damage to at least one wing when it clipped a tree as it rolled to a stop.

There is no word on what caused the engine failure.
