MARIETTA, GA -- The Cobb County Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit is investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Friday, Jan. 14.

Karli Jobling, 18, of Kennesaw was killed when a Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by her friend Alexandra Covett, 17, of Acworth collided with a Hyundai Sonata on Stilesboro Road in Marietta.

Jobling was a passenger in the Mitsubishi. She was a senior at Harrison High School in Kennesaw.

Covett was taken by ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center, where she is in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Hyundai, 30-year-old Courtney Ferguson of Acworth, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges are pending following completion of the crash investigation. It is believed that it was caused by ice on the road.
