'Footloose' Production Casting Extras, Movie Crews Abound
News

ATLANTA -- Hollywood is continuing its move eastward. As you drive around town, it's not unusual to see movie crews in action. You might have even spotted a movie star or two in your local supermarket. Now there's an opportunity for you to get on the big screen.

The movie industry is becoming big business in Georgia. During the fiscal year of 2010, the industry's impact in Georgia came in at $1.33 billion, the Georgia Department of Economic Development said. Get this, 70 percent of that money gets spent in the immediate area where production is actually happening.

But everyday people are getting in on the "fun" part of movie-making, too. This week, there's an opportunity to do some star-spotting and be an extra in the upcoming re-make of Footloose. The re-make stars Julianne Hough, Kenny Wormald, Andie MacDowell and Dennis Quaid.

Crews have been spotted filming scenes for Footloose in Newnan. Now, they're gearing up to shoot some big scenes, and they're calling for tons of extras.

Friday, you can head out to The New Senoia Raceway. That's south of Peachtree City. Crews will be looking for 1,500 to 2,000 extras for scenes depicting a family outing. So, bring the kids.

You won't get paid for your time.  But, you will be entered to win prizes like spa and restaurant gift certificates and even a week-long cruise through the Caymans.

The producers of the movie will also be looking for extras for a scene being shot at Cowboys in Kennesaw on Oct. 11 and 12. You have to be at least 18-years-old for that shoot.
